Unique Technology Developed

Envirobatt is a small, family owned company situated in the town of Esperance on the south-east coast of Western Australia. After several years of research the company has succeeded in developing the unique technology to convert a combination of standard newsprint and common fibre into a commercially viable batt or blanket exhibiting excellent insulation and oil absorption properties.

This product has the potential to revolutionize the huge, multi-billion dollar global environmental and insulation industries.

The company is calling for expressions of interest from an established manufacturer to commercialize the intellectual property.

The technology has an Australian patent, with further provisional patents pending.

Our batts and blankets consist of approximately 80% cellulose produced from shredded newsprint and a fibre bonding agent. The demonstration manufacturing plant is capable of producing batts and blankets of varying thicknesses and densities from 20mm to 100mm and of the desired length.

In-house testing has revealed the product to possess an impressive capacity to absorb potentially hazardous oil and chemical spills. This environmentally friendly product is equally effective on land (roadways, workshops, fuel stations, mine sites) or on water (oceans, rivers, lakes, dams.) The batts and blankets have the ability to absorb oil or fuel spillage at up to 15 times their own weight.

We are delighted to have our demonstration manufacturing plant short listed for the prestigious “State Government Inventor of the Year Award for 2007” and having it included in the special 60 minute television show "The Best of WA Inventions for the years 2006 – 2007" to be screened on Channel 7 and GWN Television on 27th October 2007.
